Is a Minivan or an SUV Right for Your Family? Compare the Toyota Sienna to the Competition and Find Out

There are so many vehicles on the road today that are suitable for families. From three-row, large SUVs, to small crossovers, families across Ohio and the Sandusky area have a lot of models to choose from. But, the timeless appeal of a minivan, with its open space that can accommodate a lot of people, is always a winner. At Kasper Toyota, we're proud to bring you one of the best minivans on the road today, the 2020 Toyota Sienna.

The Toyota Sienna has been a go-to choice for minivan shoppers for years, and the 2020 model is the latest one we have available, with standard V6 power.

While we believe the Toyota Sienna is a perfect vehicle for parents with small or big children, we understand that many of our customers gravitate towards SUVs and crossovers when shopping for their family vehicle. Here, we've compared our Sienna with a crossover we know is popular with some of our neighbors, the Subaru Outback. We hope this comparison illustrates for you all of the reasons why the minivan is always the best model for families of all sizes.

The 2020 Toyota Sienna vs. the 2020 Subaru Outback

  • Power. While the 2020 Subaru Outback allows you to choose your power rating from two available engines, neither one of them can compete with the standard, base power that the Toyota Sienna puts out. Every Toyota has 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque, which comes from a standard V6 engine. The Subaru, on the other hand, starts off with a base power of just 182 horsepower and tops out with 260 horsepower for its upgraded, turbocharged option.
  • All-wheel drive. Looking for a new vehicle for the family ride, and think the Subaru is the way to go because it has standard all-wheel drive? Don't be in such a rush to make a decision, because the Toyota Sienna also happens to have all-wheel drive available. In fact, it's the only minivan around with all-wheel drive, and it doesn't make you take it if you don't want it, the way the Outback does. It's optional with our Toyota, so you're not forced to take on a feature you may not want or need.
  • Space. Now that you know you don't have to go for the Subaru just to get all-wheel drive, the Toyota will look even more appealing because it offers a level of space and comfort that the Outback just can't compete with. The Sienna has three rows of seating that can accommodate up to 8 people, compared to the Outback with two rows and seating for only 5.
  • Design. One of the fears of parking in crowded lots with children in a vehicle such as the Outback is that they'll fling the doors open and hit the car next to you, causing expensive damage to one or both vehicles. With the flawless minivan design and its rear doors that slide rather than open wide, you'll never have to worry about that again. Plus, the back doors slide open wide enough that loading and unloading small children and car seats is easier than with the Subaru model's traditional-style doors.
