The Toyota Avalon vs. the Nissan Maxima

Here at Kasper Toyota, we think pretty highly of all of the stylish, reliable vehicles Toyota produces. We're happy to be the greater Sandusky and Amherst, OH area's home for all topnotch Toyota models.

When our Norwalk, OH customers come looking for a roomy, classy sedan, we proudly introduce them to the variety of options from Toyota, including the 2018 Toyota Avalon. It's the largest of Toyota's incredible sedans, and it practically recommends itself, thanks to its craftsmanship and attention to detail.

But, we also know that the Toyota Avalon is not the only full-sized sedan out there. If you're torn between the perennially popular Avalon, and the Nissan Maxima, read on. We've put together a side-by-side comparison of these two sedans, to illustrate for our Lorain customers just all the ways the Avalon outshines the Maxima.

  • Powertrain options. Both traditional, gas-powered sedans are powered by a very similar, 3.5-liter V6 engines. While this engine in the Toyota Avalon puts out 268 horsepower, the Maxima offers just a little bit more. However, for Ohio drivers who like their sedan with the fuel-sipping technology of a hybrid powertrain, the Avalon is the only way to go. That's because the Avalon sedan gives drivers a hybrid option worth a combined 40 mpg, while the Nissan does not offer a hybrid anywhere in its lineup.
  • Standard features. The Toyota Avalon also offers a lot more features, starting right out of the gate at the base model. Every Toyota sedan comes with a forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and a lane departure warning. Meanwhile, the Nissan has forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, but, it's lacking any of the other standard features you'll find in the Toyota.
  • Space. When it comes to room for both passengers and cargo, the Toyota Avalon has the Nissan Maxima beat. The Avalon trunk holds 16 cubic feet of gear, compared to the Maxima trunk capacity of 14 cubic feet, and the Avalon has more headroom and legroom in the car, especially in the backseat.

Ready to meet the Toyota Avalon in person? Stop by and visit us here at Kasper Toyota, and let us introduce you to this sophisticated sedan, and help you find the perfect new car for your style and personality.
